Curator’s Talk with Jacqueline Yvonne Smith

UIC Alum Jacqueline Yvonne Smith reflects upon her inspiration to retrace the legacy of Chicago’s 1940 American Negro Exhibit, through “Cavalcade of the American Negro”. Smith contextualizes the original exposition’s historical significance, discusses its key stake-holders, and provides a brief history of large expositions- including the World Columbian Exposition- and their relationship to the American Negro Exposition’s significance. A discussion with Smith followed her presentation.
